pen and ink and more ink

it struck me only now when i thought of studying ekphrasis even if it is not included in the MFA subjects. i can do ekphrastic poems for my fathers pen and ink drawings. and (i may be going overbored) maybe publish a book similar to that of Gemino Abad and daughter Cyan abad-jugo's father and daughter. only, in the book, it would be poems about his works and of course his artworks.

i've always admired my father for his social awareness. unlike many others, his artworks depict the ordinary marginalized people in society and their struggles for an improved quality of life. he was even labelled as a social realist in one of the reviews about his exhibit although he does not really belong to that group. it's just that he is inspired by their works.

like him, i want to put to words what i see or experience in the society that most people do not take notice of. one good way to do it is to put to words what my father has drawn.
